Our Mission
We strive to provide a vibrant online community for Liberal Childfree Atheists. At Selfish Heathens, people are permitted to express their views free from the judgment of mainstream society. Atheists are the most mistrusted group of people in the USA, and the childfree aren't far behind them when it comes to being questioned and viewed negatively. Thus, we are here to offer support and encouragement for those who have chosen the path less traveled by eschewing religion, procreating, and conservative fundamentalist political culture. The reason we chose the name "Selfish Heathens" is to remove the insult associated with it, for the childfree aren't any more or less selfish than parents, and atheists are not immoral or uncivilized simply because they value rational thought instead of unquestioning faith.
Posting Guidelines
We are not complete grammar nazis, and we aren't going to pile on you for occasionally misspelling a word or using a comma splice. However, we hate trying to read posts comprised of nothing but netspeak. u will b taunted if u type lke this bcuz it makes u l00k dumb!
No Drivel Clutter
Posting 20 quizzes from Quizilla and one-sentence replies to threads does not a discussion board make. An occasional fun quiz or poll is okay, but they shouldn't be the majority of your posts.
Don't Whine
No religion or political group is sacred here, and we really enjoy cussing. If you are easily offended, you will not like it here. However, we have provided fair warning about this being an UNMODERATED forum, so your whining won't be well-received. If you don't like it here, save yourself the embarrassment and point-and-click yourself to another place on the Internets.
Fit the Forum Demographic
If you are a Parent, Believer, or Conservative, you probably will not like what you read here, and your whining won't be well-received. (see the previous guideline) First and foremost, this is a safe haven for liberal childfree atheists. We often discuss things that annoy us about mainstream society and use our own terminology like "breeders" and "fundies". You will probably feel defensive about this if you are a Parent, Believer, or Conservative and won't enjoy yourself here.
We prefer members who contribute to our forum, not just lurk! We prefer quality of members over quantity of members. Active members make for a great forum. If no one bothers to post, then it's not really a discussion board. When you register, you will be placed in the LURKER member group, which only has access to the Town Cryer forum. Once you introduce yourself there, you will be promoted to the HEATHEN group and can then participate in all of our forums and topics.
We don't allow advertisements in signatures or anywhere outside of "The Marketplace" category in our forums. Anyone who does this will be considered a spammer and summarily banned. We routinely auto-ban people who register and then place links to sites selling stuff in their profiles. If you are an artist, we have provided a place for you to advertise your wares. Please do it in the appropriate place, not all over the board via your signature!
Info For Parents

You won't find much sympathy here, nor will you enjoy how critical we are of religion. However, if you choose to register, try to refrain from going through the stages of the Common Forum Troll because this is an unmoderated community. You will be mocked and added to a public blacklist for harassment.
Common Support Issues
This is a brand new forum, and your old Selfish Heathens member information isn't valid here. EVERYONE (including old members) must register and create a new account in order to access the new Selfish Heathens Community.
Q. I registered, but I never got an email.You probably registered with a Hotmail email address and should first check your JUNK mail folder in Hotmail for the email from SH and mark it as not junk. You should also be aware that Hotmail often silently discards completely valid emails. They don't even put them in a junk mail folder for your review! You can read more about that here.
Our advice: Don't use Hotmail. It's a shitty email service, anyway. Try Gmail instead.
Q. I registered with Twitter/Facebook but my user id/password doesn't work.The Twitter/Facebook registration is a bit strange. After clicking the "Register with Twitter/Facebook" button and accepting the SH application, it takes you back to the Selfish Heathens sign-in page. However, you don't yet have a Selfish Heathens sign-in, so you must click the "Sign in with Twitter/Facebook" button to the right. After you accept the sign-in back at Twitter/Facebook, it will ask you if you want to link an existing Selfish Heathens account or create a new Selfish Heathens account. You have to create a new Selfish Heathens account before you can actually link it to Twitter/Facebook. Choose that option. It will ask you to choose a display name and enter an email address. Once you do that, you will be placed into the LURKER group and can see THE TOWN CRYER forum, where you must post an introduction in the INTRODUCE YOURSELF topic to see the full community.
If you chose to register with Twitter/Facebook, keep in mind that you will ALWAYS need to click the "Sign in with Twitter" or "Sign in with Facebook" buttons on the sign-in page. You won't be able to login with your Selfish Heathens display name unless you choose to set a local Selfish Heathens password, which you can do in your profile settings at Selfish Heathens.
Q. I registered, but I still can't see the forum!If you registered and can't see the TOWN CRYER forum, it's because you didn't respond to the email validation request that was sent to the email address with which you registered. Please check your email and validate your registration request. If you have a spam filter or junk mail folder, please check it for your registration email before contacting us. You may want to add selfishheathens.com as a safe sender as well. We do not email users without their consent. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details
New members are placed in the LURKER group and will only see the TOWN CRYER forum after sucessfully registering. Once you make an introductory post, you will be able to see the rest of the forums at Selfish Heathens.
Q. I responded to the email but still can't see anything!Are you SURE you can't see anything? You should be able to see The Welcome Center/The Town Cryer/Introduce Yourself - REQUIRED. You must post an introduction in the topic Introduce Yourself - REQUIRED before you will be able to fully participate at Selfish Heathens. This applies to brand new members and old members who are re-registering after the board move.
Privacy Policy
We don't share your registration information with anyone else unless you are a spammer, troll, or in violation of U.S. Federal and State statutes governing harassment via the Internet. We reserve the right to publish the User ID, email address, and IP address of spammers and trolls to public Internet blacklists. You explicitly agree to this when you register at Selfish Heathens. If you register here with the intent of harassing members, you should be aware that you are most likely breaking the law.
You control what emails you receive and what you wish to share with other members of Selfish Heathens via your profile settings on the forum. If you choose to link your Selfish Heathens account with Facebook, Twitter, or OpenID, you agree to whatever level of sharing is necessary to enable those features for you.

Stage 3 - The Apologetics
but my child is diffrent! he is well-behaved and is good in public everyone tells me what a well-behaved child i have and i only let them watch the 'mergency brodcast signal on TV and they only get to eat berries and squirrel jerky its healthier. i am a better parent than other parents my kids are smarter do better in school. my religion is diffrent too - i don't hate gay people or steal money from little old ladies like televangelists!!!! i am a true christian who loves everyone just like it says to in the bible its the divine word of god i just want you to understand what my religion is really about i told you i'm not a fundie like the others!
